A traditional filakto (Filahto) made by Greek Orthodox nuns. Size is approx. 1″ x 1″.
Filakto is a Greek word referring to something that keeps you safe by chasing away the evil. It is a small religious cloth pouch pinned to the clothes of a baby on the upper left shoulder blade. The filakto is a blessed fabric – filled with dried flowers from the Epitafio of Holy Friday, pieces of the Holy Altar vestments and Priest vestments.
